Domestic & Family Violence

Our Domestic Violence & Vulnerable Persons Program provides support to people who are at risk of violence, abuse or seeking support for someone they consider to be vulnerable.

We support clients to keep safe and work with them to achieve independence in their life choices and decisions.

Following years of research and review in a cultural context, we recognise that reconciliation or resolution of conflict is a preferred consideration for clients and their families who are of Indian subcontinent background.

Those clients who seek separation are also supported to achieve desired outcomes as amicably as possible, and to manage their family relationships pre- and post-separation.

We understand that there are a significant number of South Asian people that have a unique issue as they experience or are at risk of abuse in a domestic relationship which may go beyond partner violence, such as abuse or incitement of abuse within the extended family circle.

People who have arrived here without family or supports (eg. via marriage / on a study visa) can also be vulnerable and may be at risk through living, work or study arrangements.

ICSA is a specialist in complex family violence and cultural abuse.  Dowry Abuse has been highly prevalent in Australia and in the face of overwhelming evidence, we have been developing awareness and preventative options since 2013. We continue to run campaigns to address this insidious issue that can destroy lives and relationships.
