Specialist Services

Specialist Services

We have a range of specialist services that can assist individuals, service providers and organisations.

As bi-lingual practitioners with expertise in managing the needs of  Culturally & Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities, our services are culturally contextual particularly in relation to South Asian people.

Outreach Services

Service providers can contact us for client intake and cultural assessments for clients who may have language barriers. As part of the intake process we can

  • Advise client circumstances through translation services
  • Ensure that they understand the support services available
  • Cultural complexities and multi-layered intersections are properly documented.

Buddy Program

As a volunteer service we rely on people from the community to help us support clients who need a friendly face and hand to get them through tough times.

Our Buddy 2 Buddy program uses a volunteer network to help with client needs, but nothing too specialised. We train you to become a buddy, on subjects such as safety, boundaries and understanding systems and processes.

A few buddy tasks are:

  • helping with shopping and other small tasks
  • accompanying someone to an appointment
  • helping fill manual/digital forms
  • a friendly phone call because the person is alone

We run successful, interactive buddy programs such as

  • Chat & Chai – support groups for women
  • Chess & Chai – support groups for men
  • The Men’s Support Project – buddy services and mentoring for men in distress.

We provide you with

  • A comprehensive induction on how to be an active buddy
  • Basic training on practical techniques and task management
  • Regular information sessions to build your knowledge and skills
  • Debriefing sessions to ensure that confronting issues do not not affecting your mental health
